ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 1469 ਵਿੱਚ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਰਾਏ ਭੋਏ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਨਨਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ, ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਖਾਨ ਲੋਧੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਅਧੀਨ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਸੂਬਾ (ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ) ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਸੀ। ਅੱਜ, ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਨਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਰਬੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਸਮਾਨਤਾ, ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ 'ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਉਦਾਸੀਆਂ (ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਯਾਤਰਾਵਾਂ) ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜਾਤੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ, ਝੂਠੇ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਅਸਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਓਂਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ - "ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ" - ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ, ਦਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੱਲ ਸੇਧਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ, ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਏਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

Parkash Purab, Patshahi 1st, Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji
Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji (Patshahi 1st) is one of the most sacred and significant occasions in the Sikh Religion, marking the birth of the founder of Sikhism. Traditionally, this auspicious day has long been celebrated in November, according to the older Lunar calendar. However, as per the Sikh Nanakshahi Calendar, the original and fixed date of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji’s birth is observed on April 14th (Vaisakh 1st) each year. This day commemorates the appearance of the divine light of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, who came into the world to dispel ignorance and spread the message of devotion to God, selfless service, and the well-being of all.
Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji was born in 1469 in a village called Talwandi Rai Bhoe, which is now known as Nankana Sahib, located in present-day Punjab, Pakistan. At the time, Talwandi was part of the Lahore Suba (province) under the rule of Daulat Khan Lodhi. Today, Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sri Nankana Sahib stands at the birthplace of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, serving as one of the holiest sites in Sikhism. From early childhood, Guru Sahib revealed divine wisdom through his words and actions, emphasizing equality, humility, and the remembrance of One Creator. Through his Udasis (spiritual journeys) across vast regions of Asia, Guru Nanak Sahib Ji spoke against caste discrimination, false rituals, and religious intolerance. His divine message of Ik Onkar — “There is One God” — became the eternal foundation of Sikhism, guiding humanity toward a life of truth, compassion, and righteous living. Guru Sahib’s teachings continue to inspire people of all faiths to live with love, honesty, and unity.

ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਜੁਝਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਵਉੱਚ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਲਈ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਗਭਗ 14 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ) ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਰਾ, ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਮੁਗਲ ਫੌਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਖੜੇ ਸਨ। ਨਿਡਰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਮੰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਿਆ। ਇੰਨੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
